A TRUE ALASKA EXPERIENCE
There are some unique places everywhere in this state. If I had to pick I would say definitely go visit Valdez. Look for the Lu Lu Belle tour. It is by far the best. You will love Captain Fred. I absolutely love Nenana and Talkeetna, Denali and Fairbanks. Everywhere is beautiful.
My best advice is to go with the flow. Let Alaska lead you where you should be. Smile, engage. Your experience here will be based on how you accept and interact with it. The people of Alaska are what makes everything so enjoyable. The breathtaking views are the bonus.
